Bookmaker Paddy Power pays out on Floyd Mayweather to beat Conor McGregor three days before fightadministrator
Bookmaker Paddy Power has paid out early on Floyd Mayweather to beat Conor McGregor this weekend, with punters receiving £250,000 in total.
The pair will face off in the early hours of Sunday morning in Las Vegas, in what is tipped to be the most lucrative fight of all time.
McGregor has made the switch from MMA to boxing to take on the unbeaten Mayweather – and Irish bookie Paddy is so confident his compatriot won’t record victory – he’s already paid out on ‘Money’.
“We’re spinning the roulette wheel a bit here – as getting it wrong would see a serious Mac Attack on my bank balance," he said.
“But, when you’re backing Mayweather, you’ve basically covered the whole board anyway.
“Patriotism aside, we are paying out early on a Mayweather victory – because we checked, and only one of them is a boxer. We always bet on black.”
Despite being a huge underdog, UFC lightweight king McGregor is confident of shocking the world on Saturday night.
"I believe I’ll knock him out early, in one or two rounds," he said. "But I’m starting to think I’ll toy with him when he goes down.
"In martial arts I can step past the legs and pound the head and stiffen the body. Boxing is different where the referee can stop me following up so there will be 8-10 seconds when he can recover.
"If he does I may decide to toy with him but I have the ability to put him away inside two rounds."
